Time spent in a workshop is only as good as the time spent in the field. Best Made is dependent on a community of experts and enthusiasts who share our goals, generously donate their expertise, and reach farther afield than our headquarters in New York City.
Minnesota Outpost
Headed by Nick Zdon in St. Paul. Nick grew up exploring with Boy Scout troop 415 and since then he has traveled the Boundary Waters by canoe, and backpacked through New Mexico. He has been an integral member of our team since day one. Nick is a designer, teacher and print maker who operates the workshop that conceived and produced our popular woodblock “Everything Here is Wonderful” map series. Nick is also co-editor of our blog Best Made Projects where he has contributed numerous stories, most notably his series on axe restoration. Nick continues to work closely with our team in New York to develop new products and content, initiate new community programs and events, and hone our branding and identity.
Idaho Outpost
Headed by Remington Kendall in Boise. The Best Made Idaho Outpost serves to report from the front lines of the mountains and ranches of rural America, and is a basecamp for many of our field tests and photo shoots. Remington grew up a third generation cattle rancher, and zealous hunter and fisherman. He studied fly fishing in New Zealand, backpacked the Trans-Siberian Railroad, horse-backed across Mongolia, ran the Great Wall of China (and the peak of Machu Picchu), and took a year out in Patagonia to teach gauchos how to show cattle.
