Questions

How long will it take to get my axe?
Our axes are made to order, so please consider the following guidelines, which estimate the time between when an axe is ordered and when it ships: Unfinished axe: 2-3 business days; Solid Five axe: 3-5 business days; Special Edition or Famous Four axe: 5-7 business days. Keep in mind that these are simply estimates, and that lead times vary slightly depending on the demand. Our priority is to ensure that you receive your axe promptly so by all means contact us directly if you are up against a deadline or have any concerns regarding your delivery and we will do everything we can to accommodate you.

Who is the Best Made customer?
Our products are used by men and women who hail from all corners of the globe: the US, Canada, Australia, the UK, France, Germany, Sweden, Korea, Japan, Flin Flon Manitoba and beyond; they live in remote areas and densely populated cities; they are woodsmen and art collectors, lawyers and doctors, designers and craftsmen, leaders of large corporations and owners of small workshops; our customers depend on Best Made as a trusted source of equipment and advice, as many have been coming back to us throughout the years. Where can I see and hold a Best Made axe?
If you’re in New York, we suggest stopping by our workshop in lower Manhattan or visiting our two retailers (Partners and Spade in New York or Turpan in East Hampton. If you're in Los Angeles, there is a smaller selection of Best Made products at the Turpan store in Santa Monica.

Why do some axes cost more than others?
Depending on the complexity of the patterning and the materials used, one axe may require a greater amount of time and expertise to complete and so will be priced accordingly. Occasionally an edition will be limited and that may also affect the pricing. Special Edition axes also come packed in a hand-built crate packed with wood wool as opposed to a cardboard container.

Can I paint my own axe?
Yes! Buy an unfinished axe and go to town: it's easy and rewarding. We welcome and actively encourage all customers to adorn their own axes and soon we will be providing extensive information and resources on painting your own axe. In the meantime don't hesitate to reach out to us directly for tips and pointers.
