Story

Housed in an elegant American walnut cabinet, the Eames Radio by Vitra is a mid-century design equipped with the latest audio technology, and bears witness to an unwavering belief in progress. Originally designed in 1946 by Charles and Ray Eames — among the most important American designers of the 20th-century — this tabletop radio was rejected at the time for being too compact and modern. Thankfully, the combined efforts of Vitra, the Eames Office, and REVO have resurfaced this piece to give it the attention it so thoroughly deserves. An overnight classic 72 years in the making, the final product is remarkably true to the original design. The exterior features the handsome molded plywood the Eameses are known for, along with anodized aluminum panels. Two years of study and development went into the pursuit of pairing heritage style with 21st-century functionality, including DAB/DAB+ and FM receivers, Bluetooth connectivity, and smart device charging. Available in extremely limited quantities, this rare design is a must-have collector’s item.
