Free Ground Shipping in the USA over $175

Set in a former ship factory on Greenwich Street, Garber Hardware is a West Village institution.
5th generation owner, Nathaniel Garber, proudly dons the store’s signature orange as he prepares for opening.
Our Sliding Match Safe finds a ready home amidst the fire-starters on offer.
Once the store’s highest grossing individual product, horseshoes, like our American Felling Axe, serve as a reminder of heritage.
Powder coated and spot-welded, our 15” and Front-loading toolboxes are the envy of any technician.
At the store’s founding in the late 19th century, orange signage, now a trademark of the store, was utilized as a signifier of all hardware stores for a less literate public.
Our Steel Enamel Sign serves as a reminder to clerks working in the lumber department, “Measure twice. Cut once.”

Spring 2017, Garber's Hardware

Photography by Christina Holmes

New York City is in a constant state of repair, and for five generations Garber’s Hardware has been keeping it together.
Housed in a former ship factory amidst the rising tides of big box hardware stores, Nathaniel Garber is successfully manning
the ship into a new era of retail. Garber’s thrives thanks to Nathaniel’s business savvy and optimistic and undaunted spirit.
He has built a vital hub for one of the most eclectic and storied neighborhoods in America. Be they super intendants or
super models: just ask any local and they’ll tell you that the cobble stone streets of the West Village all lead to Garber’s.
