Story

As a part of our latest collection with legendary Argentine chef Francis Mallmann, we’re proud to present this one-of-a-kind vintage Red Floral Rug. Woven in the dry forest region of the northern province of Santiago del Estero, it’s a stunning testament to Quichua-Santiagueño culture. Long known for their textile work — samples in the area date back to the year 1000 AD — the indigenous weavers have, over thousands of years, absorbed Spanish, Moorish, French, and English influences to create an entirely unique style. Representative of some of South America’s finest textile art, this floral piece embodies the traditional techniques, colors, and motifs of the region; all the unique variations from years of use simply underscore its long history. Lay it out on its own as a centerpiece, or layer with other rugs for a look that’s all Mallmann. Because of its special nature, this rug comes carefully hand-packed in a canvas tote with a book on the history of Quichua-Santiagueño weaving.
