Voyager 1, a space probe launched by NASA in 1977, has served as an invaluable transmitter of scientific data back to Earth and, thanks to the Golden Record, as a critical cultural ambassador. Story

Voyager 1, a space probe launched by NASA in 1977, has served as an invaluable transmitter of scientific data back to Earth and, thanks to the Golden Record, as a critical cultural ambassador. An analog compilation that strives to encapsulate the story of Earth in sound, the Golden Record contains a collage of global music, spoken greetings in 55 languages (and one whale language), and aural samples of natural and engineered environments. A committee of scientists and anthropologists headed by the venerable Carl Sagan designed the optimal soundtrack for our first alien encounter, encoding a series of representative images in the grooves.

The Voyager Golden Record LP Set is presented in prime terrestrial format: three translucent-gold,140g vinyl LPs contain an exhaustive tracklist of earthly audio. Musical samples range from Bach and Blind Willie Johnson to Azerbaijani bagpipes and Navajo chants. The LPs are accompanied by a 96-page book detailing the Golden Record's history, design, and encoded images, as well as the logic of its symbology. Best Made’s Voyager Golden Record LP Set is presented as a stunning box set with a gold foil print of the Record cover diagram and a felt turntable slipmat depicting the Voyager trajectory. Enjoy the full annotated listening experience of the Golden Record, sure to be topping the charts of the Camelopardalis system for the next 40,000 years.
