Few pens embody such elegant restraint. When capped, the Kaweco Supra is simply a solid brass capsule—no branding, no ornamentation, just seamless brass construction. Open it, and the cap threads precisely onto the back, transforming into a balanced writing instrument that feels substantial in hand.

For marks that matter: notes to loved ones, signatures on important documents, journal entries that deserve more than ballpoint efficiency. The weight alone signals intention—made from lead-free brass sourced from Wieland works in Ulm, Germany, a facility that has set the standard for brass manufacturing since 1820. That heft centers the attention on the act of writing itself.

The brass will quickly shed its factory shine, developing a patina that records your use. Some prefer this natural aging; others bring back the original luster with simple polish—the choice is yours. Standard international cartridges and nibs mean you'll never struggle to find replacements, and switching between colors or line weights takes seconds.

Comes packaged in a handsome tin gift box.

Founded in Heidelberg in 1883 as a dip pen factory, Kaweco takes its name from the businessmen who took over the operation in 1889: Heinrich Koch and Rudolph Weber—Koch, Weber & Company. The brand's defining moment came in 1911 with the launch of the Sport pen, a pocket-sized fountain pen designed for soldiers, officers, and sportsmen who needed a reliable writing instrument they could carry anywhere. That compact design became an instant classic.

The company survived world wars and economic crises but ultimately filed for bankruptcy in 1981. Enter Michael Gutberlet—a pen enthusiast and collector who couldn't let the brand die. In 1994, he acquired the Kaweco name and resurrected the Sport pen with a design inspired by the 1935 model. What started as one man's passion project has become a global operation, proving that well-designed tools never go out of style. Over 140 years later, Kaweco remains committed to the same principle: making writing instruments built for daily use and genuine longevity.

The brass body will naturally oxidize and darken with handling—this patina is part of the pen's character. To restore the original shine, polish with a soft cloth and brass cleaner, or simply let it age.

Flush the nib with cool water when changing ink colors or if the pen won't be used for more than a few weeks. Remove the cartridge, run water through the nib section until it runs clear, then let it dry completely before refilling.

Store uncapped when not in use for extended periods to prevent ink from drying in the feed. Standard international cartridges fit directly.

The threads require no lubrication—brass on brass will wear smoothly over decades of use.
