The Cutting Board, as well as all other wooden utensils, should never be washed in the dishwasher. Wash by hand with mild detergent, oil occasionally with mineral oil, or better yet, a mixture of oil and beeswax. As with our axe helves, it is recommended to oil a new board once a day for a week, once a week for a month, and once a month for a year to guarantee a properly sealed board. Oil if board begins to feel coarse.
The Cutting Board has a long grain surface, which is not impervious to knife cuts, especially with a properly-sharpened knife. The board will nonetheless last for many years with proper care. To sanitize the board after cutting meat, rub thoroughly with salt and the juice of half a lemon.
