The Copperlock is the ideal entry point pocket knife: a blade that delivers practical locking security and a solid provenance. When Case designer Tom Hart developed the pattern in 1997, he solved a fundamental problem: how to provide lockback functionality within the familiar proportions of classic American pocket knives. By combining elements of the Trapper and Copperhead patterns, Hart created a folder that teaches proper knife handling while delivering genuine cutting performance.

The clip blade locks into a brass-lined backspring mechanism. The Tru-Sharp stainless steel blade retains its edge over extended use while resisting corrosion. The synthetic handle scales are exceptionally resilient and finished to traditional Case specifications. The knife closes to just over three inches, disappearing in a pocket while maintaining full cutting capability when deployed.

W.R. Case & Sons has manufactured knives in Bradford, Pennsylvania, since 1905, building on traditions established by the Case brothers. Each knife undergoes more than 160 hand-finishing steps, maintaining standards established over five generations of American blade production.

Wipe blade clean and dry after each use, particularly after contact with acidic or salty materials. Apply light mineral oil to pivot point and blade occasionally to maintain smooth action and prevent corrosion in humid conditions. Bone handles develop natural patina through use—treat with food-grade mineral oil or beeswax every few months to prevent drying. Synthetic and wood handles require minimal maintenance beyond keeping them clean and dry. Store in a dry location to protect both blade and natural handle materials.
