The Kaweco Special strips away everything unnecessary—what remains is unadulterated geometry. The octagonal body feels precise in hand, angles providing natural grip without bulk. The mechanism emits a satisfying snap.

The brass arrives with a factory polish that won't last. But that's great. Daily handling quickly transforms it into something richer—scratches accumulate, the surface darkens where your fingers hold it. This patina tells the story of your use. Simple brass polish brings it's shine back.

The octagonal design is clean and functional: no unnecessary branding, no decorative flourishes, just honest geometry and quality materials that we come to expect from Kaweco. Standard G2 Ballpoint - 1.0 mm (Medium) refills mean you're never hunting for proprietary cartridges. The weight provides enough heft to feel substantial without fatiguing your hand.

Comes packaged in a handsome tin gift box.

Founded in Heidelberg in 1883 as a dip pen factory, Kaweco takes its name from the businessmen who took over the operation in 1889: Heinrich Koch and Rudolph Weber—Koch, Weber & Company. The brand's defining moment came in 1911 with the launch of the Sport pen, a pocket-sized fountain pen designed for soldiers, officers, and sportsmen who needed a reliable writing instrument they could carry anywhere. That compact design became an instant classic.

The company survived world wars and economic crises but ultimately filed for bankruptcy in 1981. Enter Michael Gutberlet—a pen enthusiast and collector who couldn't let the brand die. In 1994, he acquired the Kaweco name and resurrected the Sport pen with a design inspired by the 1935 model. What started as one man's passion project has become a global operation, proving that well-designed tools never go out of style. Over 140 years later, Kaweco remains committed to the same principle: making writing instruments built for daily use and genuine longevity.
