Building on the trusted foundation of our Cruiser pattern, updated for a greater range of motion. This new fit is designed to accommodate layering while maintaining clean lines. Whether you're navigating the backcountry or braving a pre-dawn commute, this jacket is built for the realities of cold, harsh, wet weather.

The shell is British Millerain waxed cotton, a fabric with over a century of proven weather resistance. We've lined it with robust Wyoming wool, woven by American Woolen Company in Stafford Springs, Connecticut. We call this a "working-wool"—chosen for warmth, durability, and resistance to pilling. The hand pockets share this wool lining. The sleeves are lined with military-grade cotton herringbone for ease of movement. Cuffs and collar are finished with British corduroy. Corozo buttons secure the front placket.

Cut and sewn in New York City by our most trusted makers, the Field Jacket has one large interior pocket. There are also oversized game pockets at the back. You get capacity when you need it, without the bulk. The waxed cotton will develop a rich patina that will soon tell a good story. The wool lining adds a steadfast layer of warmth season after season. If there was ever a cold-weather jacket that will earn its spot in the daily winter rotation, this is it.

Our Field Jacket pairs a British Millerain waxed cotton shell with an American wool lining throughout the body and hand pockets. Sleeves are lined with military-grade cotton herringbone for ease of movement. Cuffs and collar are finished with Brisbane Moss corduroy. Corozo buttons secure the front placket—a natural material derived from tagua palm nuts that won't crack or fade. Shoulders are reinforced. Pockets include two wool-lined hand pockets, two extra large front-flap pockets, one large interior pocket, and oversized game pockets at the back. The updated fit from our original Cruiser pattern provides room for layering, with greater range of motion through the shoulders and arms.

The wool lining in our Field Jacket comes from Warren Mills in Stafford Springs, Connecticut, operating since 1853 and acquired by American Woolen Company in 2014. It's one of only three remaining woolen mills in the United States. The wool fiber comes from Wyoming, then travels to Connecticut for spinning and weaving. The tighter weave and longer-staple fibers create a coarser "working-wool" that will go the distance.

British Millerain has been manufacturing waxed cotton in England since 1880. By the late 1890s, British Millerain was supplying waxed cotton to military forces worldwide—a tradition that continues today. This fabric will develop a patina unique to your wear and can be re-waxed when needed.

To find your size: Measurements in our size chart are actual garment measurements. We suggest measuring your favorite jacket:

SHOULDER WIDTH (Seam to Seam): Measure straight across the back from one shoulder seam to the other.

CHEST (Flat): Measure across the chest from armpit to armpit, 1" below the armhole. Multiply by 2 for full circumference.

WAIST (Flat): Measure straight across 17" down from the high point shoulder. Multiply by 2 for full circumference.

BOTTOM OPENING (Flat): Measure straight across the hem from side to side. Multiply by 2 for full circumference.

SLEEVE LENGTH (From Center Back): Measure from center back of collar, across the shoulder, and down the outside of the sleeve to the cuff.

FRONT BODY LENGTH (From High Point Shoulder): Measure from the high point shoulder straight down to the bottom hem.

PRO TIP: Keep the tape flat and straight without pulling tightly. "Flat" measurements represent half the total circumference.

Waxed cotton should not be machine washed or dry-cleaned. When the jacket needs cleaning, allow any mud to dry completely, then brush off with a soft cloth. For stubborn dirt, wipe down with cold water and a sponge. The wool lining can be spot-cleaned as needed with cold water.

Regular re-waxing maintains the fabric's weather resistance and extends the jacket's life. Use British Millerain wax dressing (included with purchase), warming the tin in hot water before application. Apply with a clean cloth, paying particular attention to seams, shoulders, and high-wear areas. Avoid waxing the interior lining, pocket interiors, and corduroy trim. Hang the jacket in a warm, well-ventilated space overnight after re-waxing.

The waxed cotton will develop creases, lighter lines where it folds, and variations in color—this patina is part of the fabric's character. Store the jacket on a sturdy hanger in a cool, dry place. With proper care, this jacket will improve with age.
