Back in 2017, we released a pair of reinforced work pants designed with two things in mind: common failure points, and the need for comfort and range of motion. The Field Pant went on to be one of our bestsellers, and so when it came time to reimaging the next generation, few changes needed to be made—rivets and double-needle stitching for added strength, reinforced knees, thighs, and seat to protect against long term wear, and of course adherence to our trusted fit. This time around the only thing we changed is the fabric.

The Field Pant features an exceptional yarn-dyed cotton twill, woven in Okayama, Japan. The high-density weave delivers a crisp hand-feel that softens through wear, developing natural creases and color variations. For this special edition, we've started that process with a garment rinse—your Field Pant will arrive with subtle texture and variation. The yarn dyeing penetrates each fiber completely before weaving, ensuring deeper, more permanent color that will wear well over time.

Cut and sewn in New York City by one of our most trusted garment makers, this next generation of The Field Pant will endure an inordinate amount of wear, while assuming a character that only comes from such a premium fabric. They represent not just superior construction and fit, but genuine economy—the kind that comes from buying once and wearing often.

The origins of the fabric in our Field pant are in Fukuyama City. Here warp and weft yarns undergo sulphur yarn dyeing—a superior process that dyes individual yarns before weaving, rather than dyeing finished fabric. This traditional method creates deeper, more permanent color saturation that penetrates each fiber completely, unlike piece-dyeing which only coats the surface. The result is color that fades beautifully and evenly over time, developing rich patina. The slightly higher twist applied to the warp yarns emphasizes the twill weave, giving the fabric its enhanced durability.

The finished yarn is woven in Ibara City, Okayama Prefecture, at a mill built in 1949 during Japan's post-war reconstruction. This region has earned its reputation as the epicenter of premium denim and cotton fabric production. Our fabric is woven on air jet looms, which enable both high-speed production and the stable, high-density weave essential for durability.

Every detail of construction of The Field Pant remains faithful to our original design. Reinforced knees and thighs extend protection beyond typical wear points. Strategic riveting and double-needle stitching fortify stress points that would fail in lesser garments. Made in New York City with the same attention to detail that has defined our premium workwear for almost 15 years.

The fit of the Field Pant is the same as our 5-Pocket Pant, except the leg is straighter. This Best Made classic fit has a medium rise that sits at the waist and a straight leg that provides unhindered movement. This silhouette offers ample room through thigh and knee, ensuring mobility, all the while maintaining a profile that pairs with a work boot, a cowboy boot, or a casual shoe.

The model is 6' and 188 lbs and wears a size 34.

How to measure yourself:

1. WAIST: Measure around the smallest part of the waist, keeping the tape measure horizontal.

2. HIP: Stand with feet together comfortably and measure around the fullest point of the hip and seat, keeping the tape measure horizontal.

3. INSEAM: Standing up straight and looking forward, have someone help you measure down the inside of the leg from the top point of the crotch to the bottom of the ankle bone.

Our Field Pant has been rinsed, and comes pre-shrunk. Natural Variation Expected: This fabric shows character from the first wear. Its high-density weave creates natural creases and subtle variations in color. No two Field Pants look identical. Some areas may appear lighter or more faded than others—this is intentional, not a defect. These marks evolve as you wear the pants. The fabric develops patina over time, creating a unique wear pattern that reflects your use. If you prefer uniform appearance and consistent color, this fabric may not suit your needs.

Machine wash cold with similar colors. Use mild detergent and avoid bleach. For optimal longevity, turn inside out before washing. Line dry to maintain structure and prevent shrinkage. Iron on medium heat if needed.
