Our long-time friend and chef extraordinaire, Francis Mallmann, worked with us to create a series of elegant pieces that inspire an exceptional life at home and on the road. Among Mallmann’s signature looks — the pink chef’s jacket, the blanket poncho — the beret is arguably the most adaptable. His is a somewhat modernized version of the boina, a Basque classic once common in Northern Spain. It’s warm, and undeniably rakish. Francis Mallmann’s Laulhere Wool Beret is made of navy French merino wool, knitted and felted in the French Pyrenees, and lined in satin. The headband is crafted from full grain leather for strength and durability. The finishing touch: a special Best Made campfire pin, in sterling silver. From Mallmann himself to Pablo Picasso, John Lennon, and beyond, the beret has a long and storied association with mavericks, radicals, and pioneers.
