Our original Standard Reinforced Sweatshirts return as they were when we first released them over 13 years ago. We've brought back every detail that once made these such a staple of our catalog: the same custom-knit cotton loop-back terry, the same reinforced construction, and the same uncompromising fit. This isn't a reimagined update; it's a faithful return to the original specs that earned such a devoted following.

At the foundation of this garment is a custom-knit French terry, knit in Peru from tanguis cotton—a variety prized for its long staple length and natural strength. The midweight loop-back construction delivers that perfect balance of structure and softness, with a smooth exterior that resists pilling and a firm unbrushed interior that adds breathability. We brought it back in the original athletic raglan cut with extended underarm gussets for unrestricted movement, Ottoman rib cuffs and waist, and our signature double-reinforced forearms for added longevity.

Constructed in Peru to our exacting standards, these sweatshirts deliver genuine value through uncompromising quality. Pre-shrunk cotton means consistent fit, reinforced stress points mean extended life, and superior materials mean this becomes the sweatshirt you can depend on, everyday.

Our custom French terry construction delivers the superior performance that comes from understanding fabric fundamentals. Loop-back terry creates an ideal microclimate: the smooth outer face resists wind and wear while the unbrushed interior loops trap warm air without the bulk of fleece. This firm, crisp texture maintains its structure through countless washes, developing character rather than deteriorating like softer brushed finishes that pill and lose their loft. The result is a fabric that works harder and lasts longer—substantial enough for demanding use, comfortable enough for all-day wear.

The raglan sleeve cut traces its origins to Lord Raglan, the British commander who lost his arm at Waterloo and needed clothing that accommodated his injury. First appearing in military overcoats of the 1850s, the raglan's diagonal seam from underarm to neck eliminates the shoulder seam entirely, creating unrestricted range of motion that traditional set-in sleeves can't match. Our interpretation extends this principle with underarm gussets that expand the freedom of movement even further—essential for real work where reaching, lifting, and stretching are constant demands.

The Ottoman rib at cuffs and waistband represents functional finishing at its finest. This distinctive ribbing technique creates pronounced horizontal ridges that provide superior stretch recovery and shape retention compared to standard ribbing. Combined with our double-reinforced forearms and quality cotton construction, these details add up to a garment built for the long haul.

Machine wash cold with like colors. Use mild detergent. Do not bleach. Tumble dry low or hang to dry. Remove promptly from dryer to prevent wrinkles. Wash inside out to minimize surface abrasion. For longest life, avoid fabric softeners which can break down cotton fibers over time.
